RECORD CLUB #3: MAGIK MARKERS
For the third installment of the Record Club, we’ve dug up an expanded and vocally frontloaded version of the Magik Markers‘ “Crebs,” from their excellent Drag City LP Surrender to the Fantasy.
There are many reasons this choice cut is the one we selected to accompany the Seashore Issue, but chief among them is this: this very rocking song, written by Markers frontwoman Elisa Ambrogio, is about the lifecycle of the Chesapeake Bay blue crab. Who even knew it could be done?
We’ve carved this song into a red 45-rpm 7-inch slab of vinyl, adorned its backside with a silkscreened illustration of the stages of growth, mating, and reproduction of the blue crab (drawn by Lucky Peach regular Jason Polan), and ensconced said record in a three-panel foldout sunset collage created by Michael Tunk.SOLD OUT
